Anesthetic
Fast economic development in the past 20 years is a great success of China, but its also an anesthetic to blind people’s minds about the politic weakness of the country.

Anemia

AnecdoteAncillary
The state-owned-enterprises are the pillar of the economy, the private economy is only ancillary.

The state-owned-enterprises are the pillar of the economy, the private economy is only .Anchorite
It’s a tradition for Chinese to become an anchorite if he feel depressed during some stages of his political careers and he will wait for a good change to return.

Anethema
You can hear people’s anethema to the Communist everywhere privately in China. But people dare to say it publically.

Anarchy

Analogy & Analogous

Analgesic
Davenport used analgesic during his match to overcome her ankel pain, but the Communist cannot find its analgesic to cure peasants’ unrest.
see Anodyne also
Redistributing small amount of money to the peasants is a dose of anodyne to comfort them, but not the drug to cure the country.

Anachronism
Sometime I feel it’s an anachronism for me to be born in the time. But it’s not my to choose the time.

Amputate
Theodore H. White said in his book, Thunder out of China, that in the 1930′s  there are so few medical soldiers in Chinese army that many wounded soldiers had to be unfortunately amputated as they cannot get medical treatment.

Ample
Australia has ample sunshine. It’s so strong that I got my arm burned by the sun the day I went to Australian Open.

Amortize
I will have to amortize my tuition fees as I cannot pay it fully at the start of the semester.

Antecedence & Antagonist & Antagonism
We went to watch the Australian Open one day and saw Asian player Paradorn Srichaphan won antecedence in the first 2 sets. I thought he will win the match and we left to see other matchs, but I learned from newspaper the next day that he lost the match finally to his German antagonist. In Australian Open, when the players from different countries struggles to win the game on the courts, their fans also have their antagonism on the seats.

Anorexia
My friend Cao Shi is in struggle to lose weight and he already lost about 10 KG. But now he has some anorexia trouble, which prevents him to further loss.

Anonymity & Anonymous
Anonymity on the Internet are both advantage and disadvantage: the advantage is it allows  people to say straightly what then want to say, the disadvantage is some people may abuse this since they are anonymous in posting.

Anomaly & Anomalous
I’m going to start a new blog to record the anamaly in China today by picking up some news about anamalous events from domestic media.

Anodyne
Redistributing small amount of money to the peasants is a dose of anodyne to comfort them, but not the drug to cure the country.

Annul
The WTO ministerial meeting in HK last year was almost annulled because of disputation between developing and developed countries in cutting tariff of agricultural products. As the meeting was hold as schedule, it produced no fruit.

Annotate & Annotation
Listed companies are obliged to disclose information to the public, but the boards offen hide the most important information in the annotation of the financial report. So investors need to be careful to see how a company annotate its report.

Annihilate
I just borrowed Jeffrey Sachs’ The End of Poverty and to learn how he thinks to annihilate the poverty of the world.

Animus & Animosity
There is little chance that China’s animus to Japan could be resolved as Japan cannot really reflect on its behavior in WWII. The animosity is growing stronger in some part of China and will eventually blast one day.

Ankle
We saw Lindsay Davenport practicing her skill that day. She is women’s NO. 1 seed and she palys very well: she had some ankle pain in the following match but she managed to defeat his rival.

Animation
The whole Melbourne city is in animation when the Australian Open starts.

Anguish & Anguished
Melbourne had unprecedented heat this summer and it reached as high as 43 degree some day. This is the most painful anguish to the player of Australian Open. The audience of day match are anguished as well.

Anthropoid
A friend strongly suggest me to go to see King Kong, a new movie about the love between human and an anthropoid animal. Her suggest is so strong that I feel guilt as I have not went to see it yet.

Anthology
Mao’s influence on Chinese people is still large although few people read his anthology today. It’s Hua Guofeng who ordered to compile the 5th volume of Mao Zedong Anthology. The English version of Mao Zedong Anthology could be a very good text for learning English, as told by a friend who major English.

Anthem
Talking about Deng Xiaopin, almost everyone would sing anthem to him for China’s prosperity in the past 25 years. Some facts people selected to neglect are it’s Huo Yaobang who opened the minds of Chinese people by introducing the debate on the criteria of truth, and it’s Zhao Ziyang who insisted the opening-up policy. Den’s major contribution has been given endorsement to Hu and Zhao, while maintained the dictatorial leadership of the Communist Party, which is where much of the pain in today’s China comes from.

Anterior
The wordpress is a better blog space operator than google’s blogger. But its one minor defect is it’s not easy to find and read anterior posts.

Antenna
The ad which I posted on the university’s online marketplace about selling an antenna have no effect so far.

Antediluvian
Chinese people like to boast our long history. But it’s hard to say if the antediluvian era still have effect on today’s China. One question would be how far do we need to go back to the history to find the underground rules of today’s China. It’s the antediluvian era or the Emperor Qin, the Tang Dynasty or the Ming Dynasty?

Antedate
One normal crime among Chinese food manufacturers is to antedate the products before distributing them to the consumers.
